Allan is the Scottish spelling. Allen is the English spelling. In the United States, this distinction became blurred over the years.

The Pioneering family
John Allan from Glasgow married Janet Gardiner in 1836 in Scotland. They came to the Scottish Settlement with their daughter Jessie Ann Allan in 1842.
The Swedenborgian Chapel
The Pioneer John Allan was born in 1814 and died October 4, 1892. Janet (Gardiner) Allan was born April 12, 1816, and died January 20, 1904. The couple had seven children: Jessie, John, Margaret, William, Andrew, Ann, and Marion.
