What’s New on the Website
One: In October 2024, B.J. and Tom Neuenfeldt shared the Civil War diary of Scottish Settlement pioneer William B. Hamiliton. This has been posted under the Hamilton link in First Wave families.
Two: We are working on surveys so that visitors can share their perspectives and suggestions.
Three: Volume One of “From Ayrshire to Almont” has been published and is available on Amazon.com. The second volume will be about the Swedenborgian community of Scottish Settlers. That book is currently being written and should be available by 2026.
Four: March 2025: Ancestry.com has launched a beta version of a system called Networks. This appears to be exactly what we need as we piece together the relationships of members of the Scottish Community. Networks also for a group tree, rather than a personal family tree. I set up a Scottish Settlement Network.
Five: In February 2025, I traveled to Montreat College in the Black Mountains of North Carolina. The Presbyterian Heritage Center is located on campus. I was there to research the 48 notebooks of Luther McCampbell, the minister for the Scottish Settlement from the 1890s until about 1916. The diaries are a gold mine. I have enough research notes to last several years. I am slowly going through my notes.
